NTI Launches Adoption Competency Training in Missouri

Many children who are adopted or in guardianship, foster, or kinship care experience elevated risks for developmental, health, emotional, and behavioral challenges because of traumatic life experiences and compromised beginnings. These effects can follow them throughout their life journey.

The MO HealthNet Division (MHD) has partnered with the National Training Institute (NTI) to make available the Adoption Competency Mental Health Training to MO HealthNet providers who serve adopted youth and their families. This web-based, state-of-the-art, evidence- and trauma-informed training for mental health professionals enables attendees to enhance their clinical skills, with the goal of improving outcomes for children and families.

NTI aims to improve outcomes and enhance permanency and well-being, with an emphasis on a coordinated systems approach. The Adoption Competency Training will equip mental health professionals to better address the challenges that compromise well-being and family stability.
